Coconut Sun Tan Oils & Why You Should Upgrade To Melanoboost

Melanoboost® is the Luxe Sun Tanning Oil powered by PEPTIDES

We often talk about our ‘hero ingredient’ being our Peptide Complex, yet little focus is put on the other ingredients that form our tanning oil base in which our Peptide Complex is infused.

Melanoboost’s tanning oil base isn’t just a carrier oil for our Peptide Complex, it’s a luxe blend of 8 super food oils carefully selected for their skin conditioning and hydrating properties. Lets take a closer look…

Sacha Inchi Seed Oil:  Too many good things to list them all – it’s a powerful antioxidant, evens out skin tone, and speeds up skin regeneration.

Rosemary Leaf Extract: Contains iron, calcium, and phytonutrients. Prolonged exposure to UV light is one of the leading causes of photo damage; the phytonutrients in rosemary are tough on sun crime. This really is an essential sun tan oil ingredient!

Sea Buckthorn Fruit Oil: This incredible oil has copious amounts of Phytosterol, Vitamin E, Beta-Carotene, Anti-Oxidants, and Carotenoid which helps to substantiate its high success rate as a skin regenerating and conditioning oil. Much needed nutrients for our sun tan oil.

Kakadu Plum: Native to Australia and found exclusively in the Northern Territory and Arnhem Land, this oil is the world's richest source of Vitamin C! containing over 50 times the concentration found in oranges.

Exposure to the sun and outdoor elements can leave our skin feeling dry, tight and thirsty for moisture. The following oils were selected because they instantly feed the skin with much needed moisture and quash that dry, after-sun tightness.

Safflower Seed Oil:  A highly effective lubricant with occlusive properties to prevent water from leaving your skin. Softens dryness, smooths roughness, and soothes after sun tightness.

Buriti Oil: Where do we start? This oil offers photo-protective properties, antioxidant protection, and is rich in essential fatty acids so restores moisture loss to sun exposed skin. A must have ingredient for our sun tan oil!

Many sun tanning oils use coconut oil as the base, think Reef Oil, Bali Body, Hawaiian Tropic and Carroten to name a few. Coconut Oil boasts a variety of benefits including moisturisation, skin softening, and anti-aging, so it’s little wonder this popular oil has made its way from our kitchens into our tanning oils. Only problem is that it has a slight contraindication that isn't always mentioned along with its cosmetic benefits: It's comedogenic.

Comedo-what? Don’t worry your forgiven, it’s just another fancy word for “it clogs your pores”. This is because its consistency is heavy with a slow absorbency rate, so it just sits on the surface of the skin. No amount of sun exposure dries this baby out! That’s why it so commonly used for sun tanning oils.

We wanted a light weight, fast absorbing oil base that would offer superior skin conditioning, but leave the skin glossy without looking oily or feeling slimy, so we selected a combination of grape seed and Apricot Kernel oils as our carrier base.

Grape Seed Oil:  Light weight consistency, fast absorbing properties, and neutral smell. Its superior, non-greasy absorption is similar to the skin’s natural oils so it leaves skin feeling silky and looking glossy.
Apricot Kernel Oil:  Unlike other oils that stay on the surface of the skin, apricot kernel oil is quickly absorbed.
As you can see Melanoboost® Peptide Sun Tanning oil contains much more than our Peptide Complex. Why not pop over to our online shop and get your hands on a bottle!
